Hey kids its that time again!

If you’re looking for something to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon,  don’t stress we here at GFV  are taking care of it and we have it all planned out for you! Market fever is back around and it’s kicking off with the Hello Sailor Vintage Market, Hello Sailor is a two day event set out over two levels at The Grace Darling Hotel on Sat 26th and Sun 27th FEBRUARY, 12pm-6pm Saturday and 12-5pm Sunday. You can find us on Smith street at the market this Saturday, buried under a pile of clothes. If you’ve been unfortunate enough to miss out on our once off vintage threads or just can’t get enough of GFV, be sure to stop round and have a peak at the treasures in our little vintage treasure chest. We love meeting all of our faithful supporters, so help us pass the day by coming round for a chat…and maybe a coffee if you’re buying… We joke, but we are not kidding about all the little numbers we’ve been collecting ad saving up for this day.

Remember, this ain’t no joke!  If you miss this, you ain’t ever going to see that dress again… except maybe on that very smart girl who decided to come to the market and is now all anyone can look at whilst strutting down Brunswick street.At Grandma’s Finest Vintage, we do the tedious work of finding the clothes, and you just look good in them so don’t miss out on great finds.

Now, for those of you that have missed out, not to worry! SNATCHEDUP

RUNWAY

As we’re sure you kiddies are aware, the ladies of GFV hit up Melbourne’s Fashion Lounge on the fourth of February for the Distribution Runway show by Civilian Chavez! The preparation was hectic to say the least. Stunning models, beautiful clothes, thousands of people to adore your work, sounds a breeze? Wrong....ok slight exaggeration there, but one can only dream right? All these years we’ve watched scornfully as models and designers whinge about the sheer pressure and stress undergone in organising and taking part in a runway show…. Industry drama queens who take themselves too seriously right….Once again, wrong! From fittings to run throughs there was never a dull moment (or a smooth one at that) backstage.

It was the night of the flash flooding; we were convinced it was a bad omen. Our suspicions were confirmed when it was announced that due to bad weather and a feared decrease in turn out, we would be forced to commence the show at 11. That’s right PM. We were tired. No, not tired, every limb of our bodies were exhausted, so much so that we couldn’t even order a cocktail to keep us sane… that’s when you know that there’s a problem. Thankfully our gorgeous models dealt with the stress admirably and thankfully, if we say so ourselves…. WE KILLED IT


The fashion gods were with us, the show kicked off at 11 and our loyal legion of fashionistas did not fail to represent. Finally, we would like a have a minute silence for all those who have been eaten alive and spat back out by the fashion world. We here at GFV acknowledge your courage and have a new found respect for you.

Throughout history, valentines day has been celebrated and remembered as a day of romance, roses and a box of chocolates and unless you are buying them for yourself, the single ladies of the world are left either ignoring the day or drowning in a bucket of ice cream.This must end. Valentines Day is a beautiful day and should be celebrated by everyone: couples and singles.Valentines Day is not black and white, it has shades of red and it represents more than just the love between two people, it represents a love of life.To all the people out there who claim that it is just a commercial day  and it's sole purpose is to increase consumerism…lighten up.Expensive gifts aren’t the only way to show your number 1 that they are loved. An authentic arts and craft job always goes down a treat and nothing can beat a plain old I love you. It’s an oldie but a goody.


Every girl no matter how much she tries to deny it, loves a gift and a little romance no matter how big or small. For us girls, we mean it when we say it’s the thought that counts.To our singles… being depressed over a lost love is so last year. I know it’s hard to hear, but  there is no reason to be blue about being single! Not only is the colour very last season, but you just gotta look at the overwhelming pros.

So Get the gals together, take out that sassy GFV dress, whip out the false lashes and step out for a night on the town. You never know which sexy single is strolling round the corner! Though its true that Valentines Day should be everyday, the bottom line is its not. We are only human and we forget to tell those we love just how much we care.

THREAD DEN meets GFV

Lots of giggles had! The sun was shining and the clothes were escaping us faster than we could restock the racks, could a Sunday afternoon get anymore perfect? For those crazies who didn’t get a chance to head down a couple Sundays ago, Thread Den (http://www.threadden.com) is a haven ” for sewers, followers of fashion and lovers of vintage.” And let us just say, it did not disappoint. Summer has finally kicked in and we aren’t the only ones excited about it. The number of cute little dresses we sold is a testament to this. Our summer stock is almost gone but never fear…. We are on top of it! A road trip to the countryside is much overdue and marked on our calendar. Will keep you posted kids! The best part of these markets? Seeing the pretty faces of all our supporters and getting to chat with you all about the essentials in life: style and vintage. We can never express enough, just how much love we receive and how grateful we are for this and this is why we will not rest until all you pretty ladies out there are vintaged out!
