For the love of the shoot...

These here are some pretty snaps that we are truly delighted about! We collaborated with Neil Prieto, an up and coming sought after Melbourne photographer who stumbled across us at one of our markets way back, we exchanged business cards and a few months later Wala! We couldn't be there to style the shoot, but we think Neil's team did an amazing job and the pictures came out looking pretty as a button! Nothing sends us over the moon than styling and preparing for photo shoots, I think it's because we secretly spend the day fantasising and day dreaming that we're shooting for Vogue, Yen or Harpar's Bazaar, you can only dream right? Don't laugh, we truly do, only there are no international models, or magazine editors or personal assistants to scream at because your Chai mocha latte (is there such a thing?) is not hot enough, not that we would be screaming at anyone! For the most part it's just the model, the photographer and two sisters with a love for sassy vintage threads! Two sisters who sometimes drive each other crazy, with different opinions and style concepts, and generally the same vision but boi oh boi it can be a tough time getting there! So we've devised a plan that we take turns to play "boss" of the shoot and the other plays the "assistant". It's the only way things can work, otherwise things can get messy (Ha, ha, ha). We can't wait to show you all the other pictures we have from the last few shoots, we've been busy little bees here at GFV and things are really falling into place, one of our motto's here at GFV is never stop dreaming and always dream BIG!      

StyleCrUSH-Karla Dares

This lady may be no household name (surprisingly), but Karla Dares is a style queen to be wreckend with, she's a veteran blogger who we've been following for a while, with an impeccable eye for mixing vintage pieces with her love for high end designers. A day doesn't go past (maybe 3 or 4 times, when we really need some inspiration)  where we don't tune in to see what latest jaw dropping threads she's posted. We love her why? Simply take a look at these snaps... she manages to look chic, has a banging body to boot, is effortless and her to die for pumps will leave any enthusiast salivating and thirsty for more! We too don't want to be left behind in the style stakes, so it's time to up the anti! OK, first stop once we get to NEW YORK, it's Christian Louboutin (Yep! don't care how many cans of tuna we'll have to eat, the rewards are worth it).Plus it would be lovely way to be rewarded after all our hard work.These folks are enough reasons for us little ladies to tune in religiously,Karla your a style Master, like hungry vultures we eagerly anticipate our next feed, your blog Karlas Closet always satisfies. So whats stopping you from getting your Karla fix? Check out what all the fuss is about, we've saved the best for last... we thought posting this little video right at the end will leave you with lasting memories, we cant get enough! Oh Miss Sevigny! How we love you! This little lady has been our on going crush for as long as we could remember, for so long now it couldn't be described as a  simple crush! Just love! Sounds dramatic, we know, we call her the queen of effortlessness. This style queen marches to the beat of her own drum and that pretty sums up why we love her. She oozes that BIG something that most of us only dream of.How many girls do you know, can get away with rockin some of these get-ups? Many have tried and oh so many have failed shamelessly.  OK, so we know that she may not be every ones cup of tea, but you gotta give her an A for originality. Why walk around looking like a cookie cutter of that girl sitting across from you? Take a peak at her collections at Opening ceremony  and get inspired!  Lucky us, they have a store in NYC, this shall make our getaway to NYC that little bit sweeter ( well for one half of GFV).If we've learnt anything from Chole: stamp your own mark on the fashion world, even if it's that fantasy world in your dreams. For those that have been following us, would know that we've had a little secret up our sleeves, and now it seems our little secret is out! A few weeks back we collaborated with an amazing team, including self taught photographer extraordinaire Jacinta Rosewarne (how she would blush),

it's hard to believe that Jacinta only picked up a camera in 2010! We know right, it's insane just thinking about it. The shoot it self was a blast, now we know that some of you may be a little concerned that the shoot was at a cemetery (understandable), but in all honestly after sitting with Jacinta over hot chocolates and french fries she talked us through her vision and with her reassuring words it sounded beautiful. We think that the photos look amazing, they manage to capture everything we wanted, they have the femininity, the softness and somehow that edginess we  envisioned . How we managed to portray all this while shooting at a cemetery? (We are still asking ourselves that one). At one stage we had minor reservations, we want the Look Book to capture the essence of Grandma's Finest Vintage: collections of vintage items that are investment pieces, handpicked due to their aesthetic quality, each, with a story to tell. Our twist? Vintage threads fused with our love for timeless pieces  & current trends, so whala! It's our first Look Book and we are pretty darn chuffed. These are just teasers, we too are eagerly waiting in anticipation while we wait for that disc with the rest of the images in the letter box, Mr post man please hurry.

Our Resident muse and fabulous friend Miss Wu has been gallivanting around NYC over the last several weeks, this true wild at heart has made the most of every minute spent and has gladly shared with us some of her favourite snaps. We are ever so grateful that she has taken some time out of her hectic schedule and in turn we want to share these with you. We are green with envy as Miss Wu rocks it out at rooftop parties, strolls down Conney Island and picnics in Central park, while looking ever so good! So sit back and enjoy these beautiful snaps and her stories... Miss Wu in NYC.One half of GFV hopes to reunite with Miss Wu in August, fingers crossed and with her pennies saved she'll be their to rock it out and cause some cheeky madness in this concrete jungle. Aha just thinking about it makes us want to dance and do a jingle to Jay Z's Empire State of mind.

So I was joined by my buddies Raae and Benny yesterday and we hung around Williamsburg and checked out some vintage stores.We stumbled across Mystery Train this random hidden vintage store at the end of a street. Benny picked up an 'He-man' curtain and Raae got some mini mushroom sculptures, they had lots of vintage peanut t-shirts and a retro feel, also the guy there served us beer as we looked around and gave us lots of discounts (Mystery Train Vintage).This under-the-radar vintage shop dresses some of the most dashing bands in Brooklyn—and at dirt-cheap prices. The shop boasts an insane selection of 1980s pumps, as well as vintage-inspired, Mad Men-esque feather crescent hats.Then we went in search of Flores Vintage Clothing as suggested by Jennywhoa. The store had a colourful selection of items, but I guess it's just the luck of the draw if you happen to find a diamond in the rough.

Today I was around the L.E.S. and went to the corner of 1st Ave and 11th st which turned out to be vintage heaven, they had a Buffalo Exchange outlet (they're also in Williamsburg and Chelsea) next to some other quality vintage thread stores, think they're right up your alley ladies. Sorry was too out of it from last night to think to take a photo of the stores even though I was loitering outside for ages sucking up some much needed ice coffee. OK, that's all for now!

Hey ladies,


I'm living it up in New York and had an awesome weekend. I was at the mermaid parade on Conney Island and then ended up at some random Penis magazine warehouse rooftop party that was kinda diirrrtay. But there was this one hot girl at the party and I knew that I had to take a photo of her for you ladies.
Let me introduce to you Miss Jennywhoa, yes that is her name! And her fabulous dress is from a random vintage fashion store where she hopes that the owner is still alive as he is weird and old. When you plan to join me, check it out:
